Wireless endoscopy or capsule endoscopy allows the entire small intestine to be examined. The test with a capsule of the same size as a pill is simple, painless and does not put any strain on the patient. The test is done after home preparation (laxative) by swallowing the capsule with a glass of water. The capsule travels through the intestinal tract and, depending on its speed, takes images or continuous recordings of the small intestine. The image information is transmitted by radio frequency through electrodes attached to the abdominal skin to a receiver unit attached to the waist. The information stored by the unit is assessed by a specialist gastroenterologist using a computer program. The examination usually takes 8 hours.

CONTRAINDICATIONS TO THE EXAMINATION
- conditions with a risk of intestinal obstruction and severe intestinal stricture
- active inflammatory process of diverticulosis,
- pregnancy
- built-in defibrillator
- age under 10 years
