Urology

Urology deals with the urine excreting (kidney), urine collecting (renal pelvis, bladder) and draining (renal tubes, urethra) systems, anatomical and functional disorders and diseases of the male external (scrotum, penis) and internal genital organs (testicles, epididymis, testicular tubes, seminal vesicles, prostate).

The majority of urological surgical procedures are laparoscopic procedures.
The advantages of laparoscopic surgery over open surgery:

  • early mobilisation
  • minor cosmetic discrepancy
  • lower complication rate
  • main types of laparoscopic procedures:
  • laparoscopic prostate surgery
  • laparoscopic kidney tumour removal
    • removal of a kidney on one side
    • depending on the tumour, it may be possible to remove only the tumorous part of the patient's kidney

  • laparoscopic pyelonplastica (renal pelvic plastic surgery)

The Kidney Stone Crushing Centre has state-of-the-art ESWL equipment for the removal of urinary tract stones.

Since December 2009, there has also been an Andrology Centre at the clinic, which provides the husband with a complex infertility examination before assisted reproduction in the event of a childless marriage. Specialist care for male climax, erectile dysfunction and male contraception is also provided in the andrology department.

For urinary incontinence, a modern (EXMI) treatment that delivers magnetic pulses to the pelvic floor muscles.
