Cardiology, also known as cardiac surgery, deals with diseases of the heart and blood vessels. Worldwide, including in Hungary, cardiovascular disease is one of the leading causes of death, mostly caused by high blood pressure. The causes of high blood pressure include unhealthy lifestyle, smoking, not exercising, eating sugary and fatty foods and a lot of stress.
In the case of cardiac diseases, early detection is of paramount importance, if there is a complaint, it is worth immediately consulting a specialist who will diagnose the condition as soon as possible, thus enabling even fatal diseases to be detected in time. In addition to a healthy lifestyle and good nutrition, early detection is the key to avoiding and properly treating heart disease.
The UD youMed Cardiology Clinic in Debrecen is the official cardiology centre for the entire North-Eastern Hungary region, where highly qualified medical staff, equipped with the latest equipment, do their utmost to treat patients who come to us. You should come to our cardiology department with problems such as high blood pressure, chest pain, heart failure, heart rhythm disturbance, pacemaker treatment, catheter aortic valve replacement. To find out more about what other complaints you should bring to the Cardiology Clinic and the care our patients can receive, please visit the Cardiology Specialist Care website.
The exact treatment a patient will receive depends on their symptoms and diagnosis. A blood pressure measurement and a blood sample will almost certainly be taken to check for high blood pressure, also known as hypertension, and the latter is done to check the patient's blood fat, blood sugar and uric acid levels, as well as to check thyroid function. A malfunctioning thyroid gland can be the cause of many cardiac complaints, so it should be tested.
In the cardiology department, tests are carried out depending on the patient's complaint. We often perform a resting ECG test, called a 12-lead ECG. The procedure measures the electrical activity of the heart at rest and immediately tells you if your most important organ is working abnormally. In contrast, an exercise ECG is performed with the patient on an exercise bike, treadmill or rowing bench, while the electrical activity of the heart is measured. In addition to traditional diagnostic tools, our Cardiology Clinic also provides patients with the most modern tools and imaging equipment to detect even the rarest cardiovascular disease as early as possible. We have a cardiac catheterisation and electrophysiology laboratory for the care of patients with coronary artery disease and arrhythmias. In our intensive care unit, we monitor our patients' ECGs 24 hours a day, so we can intervene immediately if we detect an abnormality. Our clinic also offers PET-CT, SPECT-CT, cardio-CT, MR and CT-coronarography.
Our services are available for payment, so patients can receive the highest quality of healthcare without having a referral or to queue.
